Skittles and Val
A night out in the Village wouldn't be complete without Skittles and his boom box,
his bouquet of roses in hand, and a Jackson Five cassette tape playing.
Walking home early in the morning you can hear his music and the constant
laughter surrounding him before you even turn the corner. Share a dance with this
Greenwich Village legend, you won't regret it.
The dynamic duo Skittles and Val are pictured above outside of Kenny's Castaways on a Sunday night.
Amos Latteier is a pioneer. Not only as our first pigeon toed pigeon of the month, but in his creative ventures as well. One might be familiar with Amos' public art project the Pigeon Condo, which took place in Toronto. Maybe you know him from his calculator haiku exhibition in which he wrote poems on calculators using the limited 0-9 number conversion. Or maybe even for his world renowned Prosthetic Ass. The same ass that won the coveted "Best Prosthetic Ass in Portland" Award in 2000.
Dear Amos, thanks for being a great example for free thinkers around the world.
Formerly known as Jennifer, this dynamic Memphian changed the spelling of her name to match her family's Tennessee dialect. You might recognize this pigeon toed star from her dynamic acting roles as Vivian Liberto, the wife of Johnny Cash in Walk the Line or in a far different wife role as the third wife of Bill Henrickson in their fictitious polygamous mormon family in the television show Big Love. Ginnifer Goodwin, what a wife, what a life.
On the occasion of our favorite Pigeon Club holiday, Cinco de Mayo, we honor our local celebrity, Chris Ryan for his pigeon toed stance and his phenomenal personality. You can find this sexy bingo caller and aspiring comedian hosting every Monday night at Tortilla Flats. Chris is a transplant from the Outer Banks who always belonged here in New York. He has a great depth of knowledge of music, a mustache like no other, and the exceptional ability to connect people and transform an ordinary night into one you will not forget. Head down to Tortilla Flats in the West Village to experience this celebrity for yourself
and let the tequila flow.
Happy Cinco de Mayo to all.
In the grandest fashion of celebration for the opening of the 2009 baseball season
and the beginning of an era at the new Yankee Stadium we are paying a long overdue
tribute to Babe, The Bambino, The Sultan of Swat, Mr. George Herman Ruth, Jr.
As a symbol of American culture, Babe Ruth was a legend throughout his life,
and is still considered one of the greatest sports heroes in history.
His childhood has been self-described as simply “rough.” At the age of seven,
Ruth was sent to a reformatory and orphanage called St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boys.
It is in Baltimore at St. Mary’s that Ruth first came in contact with Brother
Matthias Boutlier, better known as the man who introduced The Bambino to baseball.
Brother Matthias would practice with the boys, wearing a glove on his left hand,
tossing the ball in the air, and consecutively swinging a bat with his right hand.
Brother Matthias also had a theory; running pigeon-toed makes you faster.
A pigeon-toed running stance helps because you can push off with all five toes.
Let the legend be known. Ruth’s famous pigeon-toed running ability can be
attributed to the early teachings of Brother Matthias.
So in this month, as always, we salute you Babe, for your character,
your dedication, the great impact you have had on baseball, but most importantly
your pigeon-toed trot.
Standing at five feet two and a half inches, the petite “celebutante” Kim Kardashian has in fact adopted the pigeon toed stance of her contemporaries. Tell me something about this Kardashian you may be asking. Kim’s father, Robert Kardashian defended O.J. Simpson in the infamous longest jury trial in California history and as a result, Kim now refers to Simpson as her godfather. If you’re interested in learning more about this enigmatic
character there are a variety of “take-home” media that are sure to suit your interests. Season one and two of Keeping Up with the Kardashians produced by self-tanned playboy Ryan Seacrest is now out on DVD. If you’re a bargain hunter, the Kim Kardashian sex tape is available for bootleg download relatively cheap, but we didn't tell you that. Last but not least, if you’re looking to combine your interests and activities pick up your very own copy of Workout with Kim Kardashian. Stay tuned for the Kim Kardashian perfume line, to be released in 2009.
A very enthusiastic thank you goes out to Jeremy Durling for this month's submission. In his quest to complete his celebrity sex tape collection he stumbled upon this pigeon toed find and decided to share it with us.
From Margot Tenenbaum, to Dixie Normous, to Pepper Pots, to singing on stage with Jay-Z; Gwyneth Paltrow is quite a character. This month we honor Gwyneth for her eccentric acting career and her pigeon toed stance.
A special thanks for this months submission from the unofficial courtesy queen of the New Jersey highway system...Suzie. If you haven't yet been introduced to her, you may know of her from the wide spread gossip about the picture of her on the north window sill of Roger Daltrey's kitchen.
Kate Papineau The First: entrepreneur, painter, teepee builder, general life enthusiast. Little known fact about Kate... she has a tattoo of the feather of a red-tailed hawk on her right shoulder. In a recent interview Ms. Papineau described her particular distaste for orange juice after brushing her teeth and her love of Phil Collins. Kate, we feel you.
A pigeon toed cheese lover. What a find. According to Scarlett in a recent interview: "My greatest vice is cheese. Nothing else reigns over my life." Another little known fact about Ms. Johansson is that she lost to a British reality television contestant for a spot in an Andrew Lloyd Weber revival of The Sound of Music. In 2007 Scarlett spent a month in Dockside, Louisiana recording an album of Tom Waits covers entitled "Anywhere I Lay My Head." It takes a girl with a whole lot of guts to cover Tom Waits.
Congrats on your toes and your ambition Scarlett.
Eva Marcille Pigford
Eva "the diva" Marcille is an American fashion model and actor. She took her first pigeon toed step to fame on the television show America's Next Top Model and will forever hold the title of the shortest contestant to ever compete as per the new height requirements established after her conquest. Here at The Pigeon Club we salute those special outlaws which rules are created for. Congrats Eva, for being an outlaw and also the Pigeon Club's first recognized diva.
Born to a Gibraltarian father and a Spanish mother, John Galliano has always
had a unique spark in his pigeon-toed step. Galliano is most well known for his
work with Dior and his personal line G. Galliano. As true for most artists and
designers, the most interesting part of his work is the inspiration.
Galliano found the inspiration for his self-described "boho-meets-soho chic"
couture line that debuted in January during his daily 6-mile run along the Seine.
Each day he would study the homeless people living along the bank of the river
and eventually attempted to "expose the pure decadence of couture by turning it inside out."
The Italian heiress to a tire manufacturing company, Cara Bruni-Sarkozy
is quite the attractive pigeon toed celebrity, and has an interesting life
story to boot. Her mother Marisa Borini is a concert pianist and her legal
father composer Alberto Bruni Tedeschi. In quite a scandal, Carla recently
revealed that her biological father is a Brazilian grocery magnate who
charmed her mother as a young classical guitarist, igniting a six year long
affair. At the age of five her family moved to France, allegedly to escape
kidnapping by the Red Brigade- a Marxist-Leninist terrorist group.
She studied art and architecture in Paris but left to become a model
at the age of 19. In 2002 she released an album Quelqu'un m'a dit,
produced by her ex-lover. Since then she has found great success as a
singer songwriter. Cara has been romantically linked to Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger,
Charles Berling and Donald Trump and claims to be "easily bored with monogamy."
In 2007 she met and quickly engaged upon her first journey into married life
with the French president Nicolas Sarkozy.
This nude photo displayed above in her famous pigeon toed stance recently
sold for $91,000 at auction in New York City.
In the midst of the 2008 Olympic Games, the Pigeon Club salutes the lovely
Gladys 'Skeeter' Werner. Born in Steamboat Springs Colorado, Glady's began
skiing at a young age. As a result of her dedication and her natural pigeon-toed
stance, she led the U.S. Ski team in the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.
Gladys thrived in a family of athletes. Her siblings Buddy and Loris were also Olympic skiers.
She created a life for herself in her hometown of Steamboat Springs, Colorado
with her husband NFL running back Doak Walker and opened the ever popular
Steamboat Ski school.
