Word on the street is that Councilman Felder is amending his original
proposal to fine anyone seen feeding a pigeon $1000.
The new proposal entails designating certain "pigeon feeding areas" in
the city. Ultimately, he found
a way to step out quietly. The people have spoken, Pigeons are an
integral part of life in NYC, and we adore them.

This week I'm writing to you with some sad news. The
Pigeon Club bike has been stolen off of Bleecker Street.
Sometime between 4 and 10 am on Saturday the 28th the bike went
missing.
It was chained to a tree by the corner of Bleecker and MacDougal.
The best possible situation would be that one of us went for a
joy ride in the middle of the night and does not remember locking it up
in a different place. So, if you're in the area
and you see a teal blue Huffy Lakota, please tell us! I have the
key. I miss this bike so much.
Stealing a bike is no small matter. While I'm not jumping to any
conclusions... well, I am.
It's pretty much the only feasible way in which this bike could
be lost.
On a brighter note, Halloween is three days away. AMo and I are
dressing up as the Arnolfinis from Jan van Eyck's
Arnolfini Wedding Portrait. Cat Stevens is the dog. We're
doing a special Halloween Podcast this week from our balcony during
the parade, commenting on costumes and such. We want to know what
our lovely Pigeon Club members are wearing this year.
Please let us know, and we'll mention you on the Podcast. If
there's anyone without Halloween plans, or if you're going to be in the
Village (the home of the Pigeon Club) for the Halloween Parade, let us
know! Or better yet... look for us on the corner of Bleecker
and MacDougal on the fire escape with the lights and our Pigeon Club
Halloween sign. We love having members as special guests
on the Podcast! The Pigeon Club phone is currently our of
order. Cat Stevens went crazy with a glass of water... long
story... anyway, e-mail
thePigeonClub@gmail.com. Oh yeah, we'll be handing out Halloween
goody bags.. with mini chocolate liquor bottles.
Be there or be square.
Much love and have a spooky Halloween,
JaMo Garcia

Just a few new things going on in the
pigeon world.......
The PigeOn Club was written up in Time
Out New York.
a note from max...
We're planning a trip to the
Dia:Beacon, in Beacon NY this fall... to get out, see the changing
leaves and enjoy life.
Check the website for details.
sadly, we have been receiving mail
about sightings of pigeons being baited with seed, trapped in nets, and
carried away in NYC parks.
Many of these pigeons are taken to shooting ranges and killed.
Most likely they are crossing state lines into Pennsylvania,
the only state where it is still legal to shoot pigeons. Pigeons, English sparrows,
and starlings are the
only wild birds that are not protected under
state and federal laws for trapping.
If you see anything like this going
on, please let us know.
Or better yet, contact the government
officials in Pennsylvania and ask them to please make pigeon
shootings illegal.
with love from,
your fine feathered friends at the PigeOn Club
home.
