Save New York City's Geese!
Upset with the city's crusade against it's geese?
Join protesters this Monday August 9th outside of Mayor Bloomberg's mansion at 17 E. 79th Street from 6 to 8pm to fight as they demand the mass slaughter to be stopped and order protection for urban wildlife. The city has been exterminating geese living in parks in every bourough following the incident that led US Airways Flight 1549 to land in the Hudson River. While it may be necessary to decrease the geese population surrounding New York City airports, protesters feel there are many friendlier alternatives than the city's plan to exterminate 4,000 geese.

Kings Of Leon No Match For the Pigeons of St. Louis
After three songs of their Friday night concert, the Kings of Leon abruptly left the stage after a pigeon pooped into the bassist Jared Followill's mouth, as reported by the New York Post. Fans were outraged that only three songs were performed and were simply offered an apology on twitter that the conditions on stage were "too unsanitary to continue." When questioned about her motives, the pigeon simply stated "no comment."

Bob Barker Donates $1,000,000 to save Pennsylvania's Pigeons

Yes folks, you read those zeros right. Bob Barker, America's favorite game show host has donated one million dollars to aid Illinois based animal right's activist group SHARK put an end to live pigeon shoots at the Philadelphia Gun Club in Bucks County. For these shoots, pigeon's are captured from their natural habitat and brought to a firing range with absolutely no chance of survival. Many pigeons are terribly injured and are left to suffer. We want to honor Bob Barker for being so generous and for being such an outstanding philanthropist. He has stated that along with the help of his contribution, he will appear at some of the weekly protests outside the gun club. See you there Bob!

Last night, I stepped into a cab around 10:30. I asked the driver to put on the Yankee game, and after the radio was on, he turned around and handed me a pad of paper and a black ballpoint pen and simply asked "can you make me a painting?"
As the cab ride uptown progressed, we listened to the radio while I drew a picture of a few pigeons standing on each others heads reaching for a carrot on a string, and I got to know this mysterious cab driver, Mr. Fabio Peralta. Fabio moved here to New York from Columbia when he was 18 years old. He drives a cab and is a patron of art from unexpected people and places. He recently had a book printed called The Greatest Taxi which shows a selection of some of the five thousand drawings he has collected from passengers in his cab. His most recent project is a film he is compiling of clips of his passengers introducing themselves from the back seat of his cab. While he wasn't successful at getting me to sing on camera, he did somehow get me to ramble about Jacqueline Kennedy and fur coats. Rehearse your lines now, you never know what type of cab you're going to end up in here.
In other news, look to the sky tomorrow, as the Empire State Building will be tie die in honor of the New York Historical Society's Grateful Dead exhibition.

Next time you're in Washington Square Park, be sure to check out Adam, Jack, and Ryan; the tap dancing and singing trio. Make sure you stick around to hear their rendition of The Monkees "I'm a Believer." It hasn't been done in such harmony since the Monkees themselves.
